Programme Syllabus

The Department of Archaeology at the University of Kelaniya, a leading centre within the Faculty of Social Sciences, offers a comprehensive Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Degree in Archaeology. The programme has been designed to respond to evolving national needs and the growing international demand for professionally trained heritage specialists. The curriculum aims to develop competent graduates by providing them with a strong foundation in archaeological theory, methodology, and practice, together with the practical expertise required for archaeological survey, assessment, documentation, and excavation. It also promotes a strong sense of professional ethics and responsibility towards the identification, preservation, management, and sustainable use of Sri Lanka’s archaeological and cultural heritage.
