Harendralal Namalgamuwa is a distinguished Senior Lecturer, specialising in Ethno-archaeology and Pre-history. He is widely recognised for his authoritative research on Sri Lanka’s indigenous Vedda community. His seminal works, including Vaddas in Sri Lanka: Anthropological Approaches, provide a deep analysis of indigenous socio-cultural evolution and historical textual representation. Namalgamuwa’s scholarly impact extends to significant international collaborations, notably the Anuradhapura Hinterland Project with Durham University. His work is pivotal in reconstructing the human past at the intersection of material evidence and social history, specifically exploring the transition from pre- and protohistoric communities to the development of ancient urbanism in Sri Lanka.
