Archaeology Students' Society

The Archaeology Students' Society is the premier student-led organisation within the Department of Archaeology, dedicated to fostering a deep-rooted passion for history, heritage, and the scientific study of the past. Serving as a bridge between academic theory and professional practice, the society offers a dynamic platform for students to engage with Sri Lanka's rich cultural landscape.

Our society is built on three core pillars:

• Academic Excellence & Research: We encourage student-led research initiatives and academic discussions that go beyond the classroom, helping members refine their critical thinking and analytical skills.

• Practical Field Experience: From organising visits to historical sites to participating in departmental excavations, we provide students with hands-on opportunities to understand the technical and ethical aspects of field archaeology.

• Heritage Advocacy: We are dedicated to promoting awareness of the significance of cultural resource management and the preservation of our national heritage for future generations.

The society is guided by a dedicated Executive Board and a Senior Treasurer from the faculty, ensuring a collaborative environment where students from their first to fourth year can lead, learn, and grow together. Whether you are interested in ancient civilisations, stratigraphic analysis, or museum studies, the Archaeology Students' Society offers a community of like-minded peers ready to uncover the stories of the past.
